    does NOT win the race!

One of my jobs involves attending a lot of small rock concerts. I tend to meet the bands and such, and rarely get personal with them...however, there are two bands that I am on a personal level with, and I am interested in the bassist of one of them. I go to as many of their shows as I can, and I am close friends with their promoter, label, travel agent, sound guy...yadda yadda...we all toke together everytime we hook up and we always have the most awesome conversations in the middle of packed bars with everyone walking by staring at us, wondering why we are sitting with the band.

So....I have been slowly getting to know this one bassist, and I know he knows I am interested, but I am having a hard time with my morals or whatever. I have vowed never to date a band member. Except this guy is so nice - he has a great relationship with his parents, he is slightly older than me, he's attractive - but not pretty boy cute, y'know?

Anyway, I am hooking up with him and his bandmates for a show in 2 weeks time and I just got an email from one of his best friends. She wanted to give me a heads up that he is dating someone.

Now, I have never been upfront with ANYONE about how I feel for him, and trust me, there is nothing obvious in the way I act - I try to be discreet, because I don't need to be the source of gossip in that circle - especially since I can't just walk away from it since my work revolves around these people and their friends. Does this make sense? (I have only had 2 coffees so far, and am just about to get ready to go have a tooth pulled)

Anyway, I am just disappointed that I have maintained my promise to myself for so long about not getting involved with band members, only to finally want to break that rule, and have the opportunity snatched away. And it's not like I would mess around with him anyway, bc I wanted him for me, not for play, y'know?

Anyway, everything will go on as before...I'll hang with him and the others, and laugh and crack jokes, but the whole time I will see his new gf hanging off his arm...grrrr!!!

Love is patient and kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres
