Is 400 watt MH and 400 watt HPS Really worth it?

hey, I'm setting up a grow cabinet in a 3x3x6.5 closet, and I have one 400 watt MH econogrow sunsystem, and another 400 watt econogrow HPS. I know not to use them together because they will end up canceling eachother's rays out, but is it really worth it to use the MH for veg, and the HPS for flowering? Or should I just use the HPS for everything and save some money, and sacrifice some yield. Thanks a lot for your help!

yes its very well worth it. I used only HPS for my first grow and my plant didn't grow very well in veg. Now on my second grow I bought a MH and there is a huge difference.

thanks a lot! but the reason i said they'd cancel each other out is because i posted something asking if using both spectrums is efficient, and some guy replied with this whole explanation on how the rays would actually have a countereffect on one another... so i dunno, i might just use the MH for veg and HPS for flower, thanks for all the help though.

It is indeed worth it to use the MH in veg and the HPS in flower and using both will improve overall production, but I would only use both in flower so that you don't get any unwanted streching from the HPS and make sure to allow the rays from the lights to over lap for that nice mixed spectrum and rotate the plants daily if this is the round you do choos.

I am using a 400wHPS/400wMH homemade cooltube system in a room right now and the results are great so far with some test plants. Swapping sides ~ 2 -3 times a week for now has had great results, I plan to load it up with a full run here soon and I will try and post some pics/results.

MH is Metal Halide (the light that gives off the blue color)
HPS is High Pressure Sodium (the orangish colored lights, mainly street lights)

mrpibb you can use them both throughout your entire grow but thats gonna be twice the electricity bill.
You dont wanna use a hps for vegative growth because the orangish spectrum of the light doesnt promote leaf and branch growth, but it goes great with the flowering and producing buds on the plant.
Cannabis grows the best with those 2 different spectrums of lighting in your grow
i'd say your best bet is to use the metal halide throughout the vegative phase of your grow and the hps during the flowering phase.
Its the best way to maxamize your yields with those lights.
and yes it is really worth it
