Newbie grower with questions.

Hey everyone i have some questions that would be really nice if answered.Number one how far do i keep the light away from the seedling...it puts out 2800 lumens.Number 2 how long does vegetative stage take becuase ive looked at other threads and posts of pics only 2 weeks from germination n they are big with lots of sets of leaves but the ones i grew at 2 weeks were only an inch and a half tall with 2 sets of leaves.In case you were wondering im using a DWC kit with micro,grow,and bloom nutrients and the light is a compact flourescent wit 2800 lumens and it says its ment for vegetative stage as its blueish color and doesnt produce alot of heat and the strain im trying to grow right now is northern lights so if someone could answer my questions or just any suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated.Thank you:rasta:

Interesting questions to add my two cents to so here I go. First question is a little hard because it depends on your light. A CFL like yours maybe two or three inches. A 400HPS like mine about 48 inches. You feeling me so far?

Now question number two. Vegation can be as short as three weeks or as long as a year. As far as size of plant at any stage of growth will depend upon the use of a CFL or a HPS. You still feeling me?

I get what ur sayin on depends wat kinda light u have and how far you have it from the plants so i got mine about 3 or 4 inches from the top of the plant on an 18/6 light cycle so iunno if thats good or maybe i should just buy another light of the same kind n use 2 instead of one.But so what ur tryin to say is that it will actually grow faster if i give it more light?And time isnt really an issue for me i just figured i was doing something wrong and it wasnt growing right cuz its still growing just very slowly. but thanks man ill try the closer to the plants thing and more light.

a general rule for light distance is use the back of your hand...place your hand under the light and move to where it feels warm but still comfortable, then place your light at same level and watch daily as your plants grow into it and raise as needed.

many new growers get confused on their times and others try to impress with expanding their time to make it appear they are mystical growers with magic beans or something. i'm sure yours are growing normally...

yo yo letsburn. veggie stage is up 2 u really, grow them as long and as big as u like, tho, the stronger the light the quicker they grow. a good rule of thumb is they will nearly double in size at the end of flower eg, end of veg 2ft-harvest time 4ft, unless u train or scrog them.

i veg in a small cupboard using a 125w envirolight, growing them about 12-18 inches tall, having topped them a few times along the way, this usually takes about 4 weeks. re potted twice by now with gradually bigger pots.

then its into the BIG pots and into the flower room, with a cooltube 600w hps light with 2 125w envirolights hangin between the plants. 6inch ruc extractor fan, and 2 swivel fans. a heater 2 4 the cold nights. as 4 the light distance put your hand at the level of the plants and if u can feel enough heat 2 burn the plants then u are 2 close.

as 4 the food n stuff, i use biobizz. root juice, grow, bloom, and top max the usual stuff. also biobizz all mix soil. u cant beat organic the end product is so much better. hope this helps a bit mate.:rasta:

Thanks everyone all this info is very helpful so feel free to give more!I put my light closer to my plants a few days ago and they seem to be growing alot quicker now so thanks alot of the suggestions and stuff very helpful.
