In most cases, it's less likely for a man to catch this disease from an infected woman than it is for a woman to get from a diseased man. There has to be an ulcer, cut or opening so that the disease gets into the blood. If the (non-Aids infected) male has herpes in his genital area, or VD, then there is a MUCH better chance of HIV entering the bloodstream during sex with an infected person, whether it's a male or female. The people that seem to get AIDS the most are homosexual males, and heterosexual women. Very few otherwise healthy heterosexual males get Aids - unless they already have other problems. I don't know if lesbians get it.

Junkies get it from sharing needles.

Of course, condoms must always be used - unless you're in a long-standing monogamous relationship and both partners are medically healthy.
