OOOOOOO..K... I see a lot of people on here misunderstand the male pollen sack/seed concept. Go get a joint or pack a bowl. Here's pretty much how it goes:


Females grow buds..., which are made up of a bunch of little sacks or "eggs". These sacks are actually called calyxes and have 2 little hairs (pistils) coming out of each. That's why the plants continue to increase in hairiness as they grow more calyxes, therefore more hairs. These hairs catch pollen....

Males grow pollen sacks..., which contain pollen or "sperm." This pollen is like dust that spreads across the crop when the pollen sack opens. After the male spreads it's pollen, it is left with a bunch of open pollen sacks and leaves. No buds. Now pay attention. The little hairs (pistils) on the female "catch" the pollen and bring it inside the sack...and form a seed.

This is why the seeds are in the buds. The buds (groups of calyxes) are the only smokeable part, but if they are pollinated by the males, they form seeds.

If it is a good strain, the male will have some THC crystals (trichomes) on the leaves, which you could potentially use to make hash, even though the hash made from males is less potent then that made from females.

Males are virtually useless. Kick them in the nuts and chop them down. It took a long time for me to embrace this concept, but it must be done. If you just cant bring yourself to do that, grow them SOMEWHERE ELSE...and harvest the crystally leaves for hash or cooking. That is all.

That sounds about right Invision. Good grow by the way Thegreenfog. I will be playing around with cloning soon once I setup my grow closet. I have sum bubblicious and papaya along with durban poison x skunk#1. I was thinking of growing about 4 seeds of each and hope for 1 female atleast, then take about 3-4 clones from each plant. wait a week, then flower plants to determine sex, if any males, chuck them and thier clones and keep the 2 best clones from each female. I think I was gonna put the clones in sum bubble buckets.

~DAY 79~ is here!

We think we know which are male and which are female!!! I'll put pics up of each test-clone just so you all can see for yourselves and help me decide. hehe

Apparently, we did not clone all of the 13 plants and we only have 10 plants represented in the BodomBox. If you have been following along, we remedied that...well, we cut clones off of the other 3 to start rooting and vegging.

In the meanwhile, our test-clones, have started to FLOWER!!!!!! It's amazing...a sight to behold.

Our veg room...well, rooms are getting out of hand. We couldnt wait to find out any longer. Once we find out which are male and female, we dont know what to do with them yet! lol.

Well, here is some pics of the veg room on DAY 79...and I'll be putting up the flowering pics in a few hours.

Before then...let's get some more guesses on the number of females vs. males...You can guess out of the 13 OR if you want to just guess how many out of the 10 we have flowering, you can do that. Or both.

Well I just got 4/10 femm with some Aurora Indicas I just popped...
I wish you a bit better luck than me so how about 6/10 (or 7/13)

i dont get what you mean to mature the seeds the female does this on her own once pollen is made available to her, once the male sacs open you can discard the males the females will take over from there the longer you leave a male the more seeds you end up with and the more seeds the less smoke you have

What I meant about maturing the seeds was that I'm growing the male plant until the seeds...well....mature. So they can be picked. So I can grow White Widow again. Get it? I'm growing a male plant in a different place from the females so I can get seeds from the male. Get it?
