How about using a 'TENS' machine I had one for a while when I had a back problem and it did actually help - combine that with whatever meds thay are giving you and it might take the edge off.
I have on actually. Ever heard of a "Dr.Ho"? I've used it, but it doesn't help a lot these days since the pain is all over the place.
