As always, Plant, your two cents are worth a lot more than that. I have to agree with you on the rhyme scheme and the musical/poetic value. Sophisticated it isn't. (I almost said "ain't," but that struck me as troubling considering the point I was making.)

Budsmoker, weed is indeed a drug, troubling as the connotation of that word may be. Maybe not a dangerous illicit, addictive "drug" in the same way that heroin or coke or methamphetamine are, despite its classification in the eyes of the law. But it's a plant that contains psychoactive chemicals, and it's a drug in the same way that caffeine or coca leaves or thousands of other found-in-nature botanical substances are, too. They're all drugs in that they all act on the body in some medically detectable way. It's up to us to help unindoctrinated folks learn to respect it as a more benign--and even beneficial--drug than the other substances it gets lumped in with legally.
