lighting question
if you run flouros would they last longer running 24/0 rather than 18/6 16/8 etc. because with 24/0 they only have to fire up 1 time instead of 365 times a year. in my experience lights burn out right when you turn them on instead of just dying out while burning. i had 8 4ft agrosunn t12s running 24/0 in my veg chamber for 18months and they were still fine when i had to shut down my grow for security reasons(1 year probation, only 8 months to go, i can't wait!!!). i wonder if they would have lasted that long if they had to fire up over 500times instead of just once??? i could be totally off base with this whole thing but i am curious.

most bulbs should be changed on a regular basis as they lose intensity overtime this is true of both hid and flouros.

24/7 works for me. pot does not need a rest period. if its getting light, photosynthesis is taking place and the plant grows. if there is no light there is no photosynthesis, therefore, no growth. true, its all about preference, but like i said, they don't need dark, so why slow the growth down?
do your homework

IF you have a sealed grow room the plant, during the DARK 6 hours, will make Co2. Carbondioxide is used by the plant when the light is ON, and the plant will then make oxygen. If you use the 18/6 time period your grow room will fill with a albeit small amount of Co2, which helps the plant while it photosynthesises.
Thats 1 reason, shall i continue, No.

If you think that leaving the lights on 24/7 is a good idea, then you don't know much about Horticulture, photosynthesis, or growing pot...IMO.

would love to know where you heard that plants in dark produce co2. been looking for an hour and i can only find the opposite. plants use light and co2 in a chemical reaction to turn photons into chem energy. however, i'm sure its out there.
a link would be nice though.
