i read sumwere that you can use sillica packs ( found mainly in new shoe boxes) to help dry the bud because they soak in moisture is this true ?

I've never heard of such a thing .... not that it wouldn't work .... you could try it and see what happens. I wouldn't use a lot of buds just in case it screws up the weed.

What I do for a quick dry is use a food dehydrator with the heater removed .... dries the bud in three days.

Now if your in a just can't wait mood .... use the micro wave .... 10 secs .... wait a few mins. then repeat until dry.

another way to quick dry fairly fast is put a small amount in a paper sack and hang in the closet for 24 hours. it takes a little longer but leaves the bud pretty close to where'd it be if had a more natural dry. you can also get some dry ice and place a comparable mass of bud into a shoebox and wait until the ice has evaporated. it leaves the bud very dry and i would not suggest doing this to your main harvest but it is good for a quick dry in about 2 hours without using heat...some say it adds to the potency but the jury is still out on that one...
