Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Just wondering if this is possible to do. I am not saying I would ever do any of these but I am just curious is all. If anyone has seen the movie listen in the topic, then you must remember when the two characters huff pure ether. Has any known anyone who has done this/ who has personally done it. ANother weird drug they took was Raw Adrenlin(spelling?) in the movie Dr. Gonzo says the only place to get this drug was from extracting it from dead people. Is this even possible.

They used to use ether for anesthesia during surgery. I would almost say just drink alcohol cause it is the same effect essentially but just a slower onset. Ether is pretty much two alcohol compounds linked and is in a gas form instead of a liquid. I am sure you could get adrenaline somehow because there are shots of epinephrine that you can get for certain things which is the same thing.

Ether is popular where I live, unfortunately. Stupid kids. As for the epinephrine/adrenaline... I've never heard of it in real life, though, it's possible, I suppose. I want some of that!

i think the name they used in the movie was "adrenachrome"..they made it from an adrenaline gland from a human body..lol. that trip scene was insane

Hey, I just baught that movie, like, a few days ago. It's pretty fuckin' trippy.

But anyways, about the "Adrenochrome" stuff.

I don't really think that it is possible. We just got through doing the endocrine system in Psychology AP.

So now what are you thinking? WTF would Adrenochrome (from this point onward, Adrenalin) do to you? Well, it would probably do not much to anything. It would go into your stomach first, and then there is the possibility that it would be absorbed there, but if not, then it would be absorbed by your small intestine. This would take a while, because it would actually have to get into your bloodstream and go to your brain. Plus, it is doubtful that your brain would even recognize it as your own, and, in fact, start attacking it as an invader. We'll just say, for shits and giggles, that it actually got into your bloodstream, and into your brain, and your brain started treating it as "self". It would probably make your heart start beating really fast, increase your breathing/metabolic rate, dilate your eyes, make you start sweating, your blood would pump faster, etc. It would not be pleasant. Plus, seeing as how he took 3 hits of it and then drank, like, half the bottle, he should have died. His heart would have probably exploded. But, I believe that the story of Raoul Duke is a real one. There's a book. So I dunno.

    Oh, and...

in the movie Dr. Gonzo says the only place to get this drug was from extracting it from dead people. ~XTC
Well, this is just bunk. Your Adrenal glands will have already begun to decay, and the stuff inside (adrenaline) will have lost most of it's "kick". Well, enjoy!

P.S. But in all seriousness, I wouldn't try to do this without speaking to a licensed neuroscientist, even if you wanted to experience a "fucked-up trip". It's just not safe.

    P. P. S. As for ether, it used to be used to dull pain during surgury. This practice was discontinued because if you used too much, they'd die. If you used to little, there is the off chance that they would wake up mid-surgury. Which nobody wants.

So yeah, I hope it helps!!

Adrenochrome is an oxide of adrenaline. It's also known as pink adrenaline, during the 2nd world war soldiers reported hallucinations and psychotic episodes from being administered adrenaline from old stock that had gone 'bad' and turned pink. A theory for Schizophrenia is that they don't metabolize adrenaline and serotonin very well so have a deficiency and/or abundancy of these causing either hallucinations/stimulation (abundancy) or catatonic/depressive states (deficiency). The reports that adrenochrome causes hallucinations are mixed, sum saying that it does, sum saying it does nothing but causes slight stimulation, but all reports on it didn't support how intense the trip in Fear and Loathing was made out to be.
You could always giv it a try

READ THE BOOK, by Hunter S Thompson, really nice
I huffed a bunch of ether in college (1972-76) Hunters description is very close. You do feel like a drunk in some early Irish novel, and it does seem like you are watching your self. UNFORTUNATLY unless you have access to SURGICAL grade ether you are killing your brain, quickly, very very quickly. And it's FLAMABLE I mean we are talking real hazard here, mixing ether and flame is more dnagerous than gasoline!!! Side effects, and overdose: projectile vomiting... Lloyd huffed a bunch of ether and passed out in the dorm bathroom. He broke his nose and there was serious blood he didn't feel a thing. I really can't recommened it heavy hangover the next day Read Hunter's book it's too much
