Absolutely not true.

1. smoking out of most metals is bad for you and since most metal pieces are cheap you can assume they arenâ??t using pure alloys so youâ??ve probably got some mercury, lead and aluminum in there.

2.the plastic doesnâ??t need to burn to release toxins. We must understand burning to be rapid oxidization. If something is inert at a given temperature then it is not oxidizing.

Plastic may be inert at room temp, this is being debated, but it is definitely not when heated. With a bong of this type, you have a metal bowl that heats up way above 100 C and itâ??s touching a big plastic washer(for lack of a better word) which creates an air tight seal to the rest of the bong. This plastic ring as well as anywhere the warm smoke touches does give off toxins, mainly dioxins.

---something most people donâ??t know. Pop cans have plastic linings so that the beverage doesnâ??t react with the aluminum. So if you smoke out of a pop can you smoking burning plastic and burning aluminum. Yummy Alzheimerâ??s

In BC were Iâ??m from most bong/pipe stores wont carry plastic because it is so bad for you. A few shops do carry them and they usually warn people before selling them and they justify carrying them because so many Americans come up and want to smoke something for the weekend and then just toss it (everything else is way to much to do this)

People I know wont even smoke out of a glass bong unless it is glass on glass. This is because they say then can even taste the small amount of plastic in the seals.
