That's a matter of perspective. True, I don't anticipate making our women wear Burkas, or having public beheadings for violations of sacred customs. Nor do I expect fundamentalist Christians to hijack airliners and fly them into Mecca during Ramadan.

I do, however, expect more fundamentalist encroachment on our individual liberties. Dubya tried to get a constitutional ban on gay marriage. Imagine that, with as much shit to deal with in his office and in the world, he wastes energy and brain cells (whatever amount he has) on hate amendments to the constitution. Was it his idea? Hell no. It was the Christian core of fanatics that skillfully hijacked the Republican Party.

But the scariest element of Christian fundamentalists are the Zionists. They're in favor of expansionist policies of Israel and view them as the fullfilment of biblical prophesy. Ultimately they don't care about a nuclear war in the Middle East because that just means Armageddon and the return of Jesus. And Dubya subscribes to that particular eschatology.
