weed help out my bipolar disorder

hey im going to my physician about my bipolar and see if i can get a prescription for marijuana. I'll be explaining to him the benifits of medical marijuana to him. like for instance i cant sleep, eat, and i get really pissed off a lot, and severe depression too. i believe that marijuana can help me with these problems, even though i smoke any way and already know its gods healing herb. do you think he will agree?? (please respond with a brutally honest opinion)

My "Brutally honest opinion", no he won't prescribe it to you for bipolar. Weed's been suspected of aggrivating certain mental disorders, and chances are your doctor will want to play it safe. But, innevitably that's up to him.

To get a green card the doctor has to discuss the benifits and risks of marijauna and if the benifits in his opinion outwiegh the risks then if he wishes he can prescribe it.

I was diagnosed with bi-polar II when I was in rehab (for weed). It really depends on the doctor, traditional docs probably won't presribe, but if you look into alternative care physicians you can find one who will. I did, I only had to give proof (such as prescribed meds) that I was being treated for bp and give treating docs name add. etc. I got my Rx no problem. Good luck.

Your regular doctor will, in all probability, not give you a RECOMMENDATION (not prescription) for cannabis. He would lose his medical license if he gave you a prescription for pot! Recommendations are another story. Heck, my doctor even admitted that he used to smoke in med school, but he's too scared of the feds to be a "pot doc"! I had to travel 75 miles to see a cannabis specialist. Check with NORML for the names of cannabis-friendly doctors in your area. You will need your medical records(without them you don't have a chance with my cannabis doctor), any pills you have been prescribed and between $100 and $250 to pay the doctor. My doctor will not give a recommendation to anyone under 18 unless both parents are there and give permission in writing. I am mildly bipolar (Mom was REALLY bipolar- I'm just rather moody) and cannabis does keep me "leveled out". Good luck!

No no no. I seriously would not recommend smoking if you're bi-polar. My older brother is bi-polar as well as an alcoholic (he recently went on a week-long drinking binge and tried to kill himself), and weed makes his condition even worse.

Just to clarify, I was not given a recommendation for med pot in Rehab! I was diagmosed with bi-polar II there. Nine years later I got my "recommendation" from a doc listed on this site. Also, I was never and am still not into alcohol, if you drink with meds or that will surely fuck you up, however, in my case the pot is a perfect compliment to my meds.
