Rockwool - How To?
This is a pretty basic question (so beginners section is right then), but I've just bought 8 3x3x2.5 rockwool cubes for starting my plants. A couple of questions.
.1. I only grow in soil, and will be for this grow to. With the hole in the rockwool being 1" is it ok to cover the hole in soil and then let it grow (this should be ok, but trying to confirm things).
.2. These are pretty big cubes, and I intend to only grow my plants to about 14" mature. Will I need another pot to put them in, or should the cube do it completely.
.3. Feeding: When I water these cubes, will they fall apart, and how much should I water them? This is the main question I want answered please.
Thanks for any feedback.NiceNEasy Reviewed by NiceNEasy on . Rockwool - How To? why dont you just start them in soil?
the cube isnt large enough for your plants to mature so you would end up transplanting in soil at some point anyway.
you will also need to have some hydroponic nutrients if you wish to start them in rockwool cubes of that size.

To be honest I was just going to try something different to start them off. Didn't know I'd need hydro gear to start them in these. Oh well, you live and learn eh.

its not uncommon to start clones and seeds in the 1 inch rockwool cubes and then they can be transplanted into a larger cube like what you have with a 1 inch hole or place directly into a soil or other meduim.
but rockwool is a hydroponic meduim and does require complete nutrients if you entend to grow for very long in them.

Rockwool - How To?
Actually what I did was start my plant in a 2.5x3x3 cube, covered with some dirt, and put the whole thing into a pot. It's working well.
