    400 w HPS

Just one question which i would really need an anwser to. My friend has an HPS lamp (400 w) last summer it stopped working for some reason. The light itselfe is still huming hence the ballast is working is it possible that the bulb gave up? it has been used intensively for a couple of years. Or is it possible that something else has gone to shit in the lamp itselfe? Any one that has any idea please hit back a couple of lines!

    peace pot and llove

it sound's like the bulb has gone especially as you've not changed the bulb in all that time.

It surely is the bulb. However it could also be the starter, it is advised to replace both at the same time.

they seldom blow, but when they do it's usually caused by overload, bad or weak bulb or for no reason at all, they are simple to replace and inexpensive,I've only changed them a couple of times before, dont solder it,just use wire nuts, only 3 wires h-n-g,about $30.00....bonbon
