Trust me on this, AlwaysBlazed. There are thousands of college-degreed folks in the world who don't know that one. Affect and effect gets the best of 'em. As a rule, affect is the verb. And effect the noun. But, as with everything else in English, there are exceptions.

I used to be a teacher, so I wanted to, well, make sure you weren't feeling the effects of any criticism that could affect you negatively in your attitudes toward English. Keep up the good work!
