Fuck. I need advice. (quite long)

This isn't a thread to whine, or for sympathy. I just need to get some things out, and I need some advice.

Once again, I have been found out by my parents. This time, as with the others, it was no fault of mine. A friend, more of a casual acquaintance, was interested in trying marijuana. How can you say no to introducing someone to the wonders of weed? So one late night, he comes over, unfortunately drunk as hell, and we proceed to smoke a bowl around the corner. I don't even know if he felt anything, it being his first time and him being drunk off his ass. He stumbles home with a friend, I go back inside, smoke some more, go on with my life.

Apparently this kid e-mailed a friend about his "first time with weed" and his mom read it, somehow, and called my parents. I'm fucked. Huge scene, screaming, tears (my mom), etc. It's bad. I tell them again how contrite I am, and how I will respect their house and their rules while I live there (I'm a freshman in community college, hope to move out ASAP). This time, I mean it.

So things have been going well. I haven't smoked since then, (8-9 days) though I've got most of an 8th left. I'm working, going to classes, but not seeing my friends or going out, except for work and school. It's a little bit of a depressing existence, but I'm fine with my own company, most of the time. Of course I would be a lot happier if I was smoking.

Now, I've got my bong and an 8th, and a good friend who will stop by any time and bring me the bomb McDonald's chronic we usually pick up together. So I have access to herb now, and more whenever I need it.

My question is:

Should I smoke, thereby breaking my word to my parents? I am not harming myself or them, except that they would be furious/heartbroken if they found out. Now, I know that there's essentially no way I can get caught again. Every time in the past, I've been caught only through the fuck-ups of others. Smoking alone, by myself, at night, when they're asleep, on the other side of the house...no, there's a 99% chance I'll be fine. It's simply a moral question.

So. Should I do what I love, going against the people I love? I rationalize it to myself by saying that they're MAJORLY overreacting.

Their reasons for not wanting me to smoke are these:

1. It's illegal. I say that this is not a valid point, because the penalty for possession of under an ounce in California is a non-arrestable offense. It's a misdemeanor - a $100 fine, no prison time, no nothing. Also, there's basically no way I can get caught smoking at home. The friend delivering is not a dealer, he simply picks it up from our dealer and brings it to me, the largest quantity being a quarter ounce.

2. It's amotivational, and, considering my trouble in high school (I barely graduated) they think it will mess up my life and my plans. I say bullshit. I have a good job, and am going to college. What more do they want? I know that marijuana can be a part of a responsible, successful life. And it will be part of mine, whether they like it or not.

Those are pretty much their only objections. They spouted the usual ignorant bullshit about marijuana being inherently dangerous, but I was careful to correct them.

What would you do? What should I do?

do it this way. Don't do it in their house to be moraly right respect their wishes. BUT go somwhere else and smoke it just don't do it in their house. I am going to guess you are 18 or older. So now you should make alot of your own choices being an adult.

Good point, but they simply don't want me smoking while I'm living with them, being partially supported by them, et cetera. I'm actually only 17, by the way. I don't know, maybe when I'm 18 things will be different.

I'll probably end up smoking..God, it's been awhile.

Well I said 18 cause you are an adult then. And everything you do you hold accountable for yourself. Being 17 you are a minor and whatever you do your parents are hold accountable for not you.

Your parents will never give you permission to smoke if they really care about you. Just keep doing it behind their back, it's part of our culture man. If I get caught 1 more time im screwed too (until 2 years from now, when im 18 my parents said they wont care, heck, my dad would prolly toke with me every day).

The best advice is...keep it recreational.

I don't see any reason why anyone should smoke more than just 2 or 3 times a week UNLESS their lives are completely set...they're making as much money as they'd like and living at a level they are happy with or are working DAMN HARD at reaching their goals in life.

Think of it like this. Imagine for a moment that there was no more weed on earth...that the plant went extinct. What would you do with your life?

Now...DO THAT ANYWAY...and just smoke occasionally and don't let it lower your grades or lower your drive.
