I have used mh bulbs for years for blooming and like the results. imp:
A automated system and, have tested both hp and mh bulbs for blooming.
I like the mh due to less streach and tighter buds.
Note would buy 2 and have a spare, I like GE bulbs with the normal ballast.
Note mh are directional mount and U mount is universal. I realy think theres not much differance between bulb makers , just the box and the snow job of selling.
note 400 watts, not 4,000 and 4,000k would be one hell of a size bulb, like 4,000,000

I think they state 4000k as the temperature of it. This looks like a sort of a multipurpose bulb with the temp right in between the optimal for both vegging & flowering. Optimal for vegging is in the ballpark of 6500K and flowering is 2700K.
Some mistakes are just too much fun to only make once.

    dear young,

i'm doing my first indoor grow w/blueberries. you may wantto try 48'' fl's. GE makes a daylight bulb that is absolutely fucking outstanding!!!!!!

3050 lumens per bulb, 6500k(the proper color band for veg growth), and only uses 40w!!!! temps are much easier to control with flourecent, as the ballast puts out less heat and the bulb puts out practically none(my plants are touching the bulbs as we speak.)

i was using merc vapor, same color band as yours and had very shitty results. as soon as i switched to the fl's, growth and color improved within one hour!!

an alternative to long fl's is cfls, however, they don't put out as much light as the regular fl's.

ps i am using 4 48'' bulbs for 8 plants. fucking outstanding results!!!!

    hope this helps!!

    love brooke
grow, or grow not. there is no try.

MH is Ok for Flowering but it wont give u better resutls then an HPS. Did u ever consider the Hortilux bulb with carries light spectrum from both HPS/MH ?
