my disgust the justice system
So my step mom was a meth-addicted alchoholic (she still is, i say was because she isn't my step mom any more). My dad goes to church like every other night (i'm not religious but it shows his character) He is a wonderful person and has done everything for this women, bought her a car payed, her debts, bailed her out of jail, everything. One night she was shitfaced drunk and wanted to drive out to a club. He said no, you're not driving. She went insane, punched him in the face (he didn't fight back) cussed at me (i watched the whole thing), then ran into the bathroom and took a razor blade, cut her face and put some dark makeup on, then called the cops. The cops arrived and she is screaming and everything, yelling, and the cops are listening to her with wide open ears. I try to explain the situation to the cops without yelling (I don't want to get tazed), saying that I saw the whole thing and I told them to look at her cut, it obvious a fist didn't do it. They told me to shutup. I watched my dad get arrested. I was left at our house, alone with this crazy bitch. The next day i had to use my savings to bail him out (he of course payed me back that day) and when he got out we tryed to kick her out of the house, but the cops told us we were not allowed to do this, because he was married to her and it was her house too. This was followed by a bunch of legal nonsense. He would have to file a paper to the judge to have her kicked out. So we did, and we had to live with my dads friend in a small ass 1 bedroom apartment for a month before she finally was made to leave.
This legal battle is still going on. He has had to pay thousands of dollars already for a lawyer because of the domestic violence and assault charges pressed against him by the police. Now the lawyer has pretty much made it clear, after investigating, that there is a no drop-policy in denton county, and it will have to go to court no matter what. Also, the lawyer has made it clear that we have about a 5% chance of winning and he's working on a plea bargain now where he won't go to jail for the 2 years, but he will have to do some 120 hours community service, pay thousands of dollars of fines, will not be allowed to drink alchohol or go to bars (even though he doesn't do that anyways), be one probation for 15 months, and take some extensive family voilence classes and anger manangemnt, classes which cost a couple hundred dollars each. Because of all the money he is having to spend on this, we are most likely going to loose our house soon.
She has made it clear to my dad that she is going to make this as expensive for him as possible. We heard news from my dad's lawyer that the other day she filed something in which could also make my dad have to pay "temporary living expenses" for her, more thousands of dollars.
My dad has NO criminal record, no misdeamors, only 2 speeding tickets. She, on the other hand, has 3 duis (still has a valid drivers license), a one felony assault. The courts know all this.
All this because she got to the phone first, and she is a female. I wish my dad really had nailed her in the face, seeing as the cops think he really did ittripswitch87 Reviewed by tripswitch87 on . my disgust the justice system So my step mom was a meth-addicted alchoholic (she still is, i say was because she isn't my step mom any more). Yall need a better lawyer.
If your fathers history is truly clear outside of some parking tickets, in most courts in the country, it'll come down to his word vs. hers. Your lawyer needs to introduce the fact that he does not have a record but your ex step mother does. That will give creedance to the whole story that the argument erupted because he would not allow her to drive because she was intoxicated. Courts are sympathetic women in domestic violence cases, but it seems like your father has a lot more supporting documentation on his side.
Seriously, tell him to get another lawyer if this one is already thinking he's going to be convicted. Good luck.

He's trying to tape her phone conversations, but she always says like "your going to be broke for hitting me" and shit, cuz she knows he has a telephone recorder which he uses for taping conference calls at work.
And I don't know. I told him he should go to court over it but its going to cost him like 6 thousand more dollars as compared to like 2 thousand if he just pleads no contest (basicly admitting to it) but fuck all that bullshit community service man 120 hours its not fair
