Cannabis should not be judged based on the effects experienced the first few times. It is not uncommon for some people to feel nothing at all the first few times, while others may barf or feel disoriented or nauseous or dizzy or just sleepy. Eating cannabis also allows the body to metabolize delta-9 THC into a more potent form that you do not get via smoking, so eating it the first time was probably not the best idea either.

It's your life, but I wouldn't rule out cannabis based on this first experience. It has so many potential medical benefits (especially in regards to preventing cancers) that it would be detrimental to your lifespan to just chuck it out the window based on this initial try. I mean, you could ultimately be deciding whether you want to live to be 75, or do you want to live to be 80. While that's undoubtedly a long ways off, it's still not a decision I'd make lightly, and if you rule cannabis out you may regret that choice when you're 75 and dying.

More power to ya, whatever you decide.
