what went wrong?

Basically, I'm looking for a diagnosis, feel free to ask any questions about the setup, but here is a little description:

I had this little clone, but alas; no more. Here is a shot of it. I'm not sure what exactly it died of and I'd like to prevent it in the future, so I am asking for some help. I had it in a mix of 40%potting soil, 5% peat moss, 5% miracle gro soil, and 50% perlite (also, i threw in a tbsp of lime per gallon and 1 tsp of slow-release 10-10-10 fertilizer) It was doing alright till i watered it a few days ago for the second time, and I used a weak solution of fish emulsion... The next day, it had lost two lower leaves, they were curled under and white in appearance. I figured it had to do with the ferts, so I flushed with ph balanced water... Condition doesn't look any better since then (if anything, it got worse). Heat may have played a factor as well, but only for like a day (the cool cfl it was under slipped closer to the plant)

and....by some slim chance, may it still be salvagable?

bombarded with ferts, fish emulsion, MG, & slow-release 10-10-10 fertilizer

forget miracle grow completely
forget slow-release 10-10-10 fertilizer completely

Id transplant now, its already hurt and will continously be over ferted from the time release you added and the time release MG

a little ferts is to boost yield and growth and isnt necessary to bud a plant
your pushing WAY to hard

Ganja is right, i did the same thing. Put the clones in a soil mix that would be good for mature plants. Transplant asap, i did and all of mine have made it and some were in really bad condition. it's really going to stunt growth for a while.

90% of plant problems seem to be over-fertilizing ... I don't give nutes until my plants show a need ... I have also found some rich soils, like Fox Farm Ocean Forest is just too 'hot' for some young seedlings, and have lost quite a few valuable seeds, until I figured out 'why' ... "less is better" ... :smokin:

Thanks for the good advice. I will be sure to treat clones a little more gingerly in the future. As far as I can tell, it is strain specific as I have another clone from a indica dominant plant that flourished in the soil mix. All just a learning experience, but I'm glad you guys are around to boost the abundance of knowledge.
Also, I have another question if anyone can help: Is there any alternative to insecticides to treat pest problems? I have a little infestation of bagworms or something...they look like inchworms and they weave silky cobwebs that turn leaves dark green and mushy. They also like to snack on the leaves- those little bastards. Please help me get rid of these buggers.
