Can't agree more. It's like so many of these flavor/issue of the week crusaders I see up in nearby Berkeley. They sit there drinking their soy chai lattes, planning their next protest. They're so willing to tell you everything that's wrong but most can't have more than a few minute discussion on the subject. They just know it's wrong because all their friends say it's wrong.

In this case I think the school might have gone a bit overboard suspending the kids but a rule is a rule. If you allow a kid to break one rule why not allow the next one to break another. It probably would have been better for the school to come out ahead of time and said something like "students wishing to wear patriotic t-shirts on 9/11 will be allowed to do so on that day only" That way it wouldn't be so much breaking a rule as making a new one.

Is this type of rule that commen these days? Shit, I used to wear a t-shirt with a big bud (marijuana) on the front and the saying "This Bud's for You" and nobody ever gave me any trouble.
