Why not think of the most vacouous and self centred people you can imagine, and have them all hanging round a coffee shop all day. Make them live in big fancy apartments right next to central park in NYC despite their having no visible means of support. Make one of the girls a bit older than the rest, like in her early forties, but still have her acting like a goofy kid. Give one of the male characters a voice like David Schwimmer.
