Anybody know some good lung-clearing methods?

I'm really starting to worry about my lungs right now. Yes, I know weed is not a common (if at all) cause of lung cancer, but it seems the tar from smoke is still catching up with me. In the past while my lungs have been feeling, for lack of a better word, "thin". I Feel like when I take deep breaths I'm not getting as much oxygen, like very shallow breaths (I just smoked a joint, and it's worse now).
So anybody know some good methods for clearing your lungs out of all that tar? I guess there's going for runs, but anything else would be appreciated. I've also been seeing these bottles in health food stores with pills that claim to speed up your lungs clearing themselves and healing, would anybody know if they actually work?

I wouldn't see why your lungs would be feeling thin, unless you're holding your hits in for a long time I suppose. Or possibly it's just a placebo effect and you're too high to tell the difference?

In either case, if you don't exercise on a regular basis, start. Even jogging for a couple miles will leave you feeling a lot better afterwords, not to mention it's keeping your heart and muscles strong. ~

I hold my hits in about 2-3 seconds, sometimes for only a second, but it's going to deposit some amount of tar, along with excessive heat (which is bad for the lungs) regardless. I'm just going to stick to vaporization from now on (everybody should really).

I was also thinking of something... I've heard of this new "sativex" THC spray that you spray under your tongue, developed by some pharmacutical company, and it's said to be active within a couple minutes of putting it there. So I'm thinking, what if I just got a small amount of some very fatty substance (butter etc) and cooked my weed into it? then I could just let that melt under my tongue and see if it works. Think it would?

Yeah, you can cook your cannabis if you're that worried about it, and too lazy to excersize.

Check out the recipe forum. There's also the firecracker option. http://crackers.kisps.net/

Well to answer your question mrdevious.......... four or five cloves of fresh garlic ...........crush and make into paste/puree....... remove socks/stockings from pre washed feet.............. massage onto the soul of feet for three or four minutes....... you will notice that the paste turns sticky while massage taking place......... replace socks and go to bed.

FACT .... this will induce deep coughing. It is commonly know to us, that are not ignorant to ancient remedies, that garlic was applied like this to sick childerns feet while asleep as many children would feel uncomfortable on taking garlic orally. The theory is that garlic travel through the body quiet fast considering it acts as an antiworm, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antioxidant, anticancer, lowers blood glucose ,lower blood pressure and does a grand olde job in breaking up mucus linned deep in the lungs vessel

TEST THE FACT ....... After applying the garlic as I suggested the fact is that garlic can be tasted from your own tongue after twenty to thirty minutes of applcation..... ask someone to smell your breath in this time and that person will clarify the same. Oh ya and before I read something about garlic breath...... answer is fresh parsley chewed.

repeat this procedure as often as you wish

NOTE WITH CAUTION Asmathics take it easy first to see how you chest takes this....and for the coughing experienced dont worry it is working and for those not coughing it is still cleaning your blood all good really.

Oh ya mrdevious[ sounds like you gotta start taking the bud in food, not through smoking and not in your SOCKS !!!

Dude! GET A VAPORIZER!!! I have toked for 40 years and my lungs were really "gluppy", coughed all the time. Two weeks after getting a Vapopr Brother's GNES, my lungs were remarkably clear! NO morning cough! In addition to cleaner lungs, I use 1/2 the pot, it doesn't smell up the house, and the left-over vaped pot can be used in cooking! I got mine for $140 + $!$ for S&H at discountworldonline.com. Best money I ever spent!

Anybody know some good lung-clearing methods?

Hey, Mr. D. That advice to get a vape might be good. As much as everyone loves to claim that smoking weed is beneficial for the lungs, for a whole lot of people it's not. It made my ashtma flare up in a big way, and chest congestion/tightness is a common complaint in lots of smokers. Research has shown that THC and other cannabinoids are highly beneficial for asthma and other lung ailments. But what most folks never realize is that the mainstream research that's proved this has been done with cannabinoid isolates and tinctures and not necessarily smoked weed. Inhaling smoked vegetable matter of any kind doesn't do good things for the lungs of anyone, despite what weed fans love to claim. Any cardio-pulmonary doctor or researcher will confirm this.

Here are some things you can try:
    • Take a break from smoking for a week or two and do deep breathing exercises four times a day. Inhale deeply, completely filling your lungs. Hold for four seconds. Then exhale. Do 15 - 20 reps each time you do this. (Expect to yawn a lot, too, and possibly feel sleepy). You can also do these breathing exercises when you're in a steaming hot shower, too.
    • Get yourself a large metal or glass bowl and a bath towel. Boil a half gallon or so of water to which you've added two tsp. of non-iodized sea salt. Pour that in the bowl and then lean over the steaming bowl with the towel over your head and surrounding the bowl and breathe in the steam deeply.
    • Take supplemental doses of vitamin C, vitamin A and beta carotene, which are very beneficial for your lungs. If Ganjasaurus Rex were online, he'd know the specific dosages to recommend. I'm hoping he'll see this and make his recommendation.
    • Go to the natural foods store and buy yourself a couple of types of essential oils. Eucalypus oil and peppermint oil are particularly good for pulmonary ailments. Boil up the pan of water from the earlier suggestion, only don't put any salt in it. Put one drop of eucalyptus oil or one drop of peppermint oil into your glass or metal bowl, then add the boiling water. Cover your head with the towel and breathe in the steam. Do one oil or another; don't mix them. And be sure not to use more than a single drop of oil the first time you try this. Both are strong as can be, and if you huff too much of either type, you'll set off a coughing spell you won't soon forget. If you find that one drop doesn't do anything, add two drops and work your way up gradually. Some coughing is good; it clears your lungs by helping you cough up mucus. Your nose may also run when you're doing the saline or oil steam treatments.
    • The traditional medical approach would be to use an aerosolized medicine called albuterol and possiblly inhale it through a nebulizer, but albuterol's a powerful and potentially dangerous medicine in a lot of ways and probably isn't necessary. You need a prescription for albuterol and usually for a nebulizer, too.
    • You can also try the inhaled steam treatment with two cloves of crushed garlic in the bottom of the bowl--or about a half-inch section of grated fresh ginger. Both are good chest-openers, but these can also be very strong and set off some uncomfortable coughing. Some people also have perfectly valid objections to smelling like garlic or ginger.

I've tried all these home remedy approaches over the years at various times on myself and/or used them on my son or others when they've had chest congestion. See what works best for you!

Hey, thanks for all the advice all, I'm definately going to try some of the things listed here. I already have a vaporizer btw, I've had it for about a year. But, smoking is just so much more convenient considering the vaporizer takes 10 minutes to heat up, there's no room for dose titration as you go, and honestly there's just nothing I enjoy more than a nice rolled joint.

My lungs are actually feeling fine for the most part now, but they seem to get a lot worse after smoking, so I'm going to take it as a sign that now's my chance to stop, and stick to vaporization 100%. Maybe by the time I harvest my grow ( some time in early October) I'll have a toke again, but not regularily.

oh yeah, and I already take a multitude of vitamin suplements. One I've really been seeing benefits from is taking large quantities of sublingual Vitamin-B12's. They help a lot in improving memeory, mood, and energy. I've noticed my depression has lifted pretty much entirely in the past week or so. A lot of people try to get their B12 vitamins through oral injestion, but 99.9% of stuff that goes into your stomach isn't even absorbed, so sublingual really is the only (usual) way to get it. And the nice thing is it's water soluable so there's no worries about toxicity.

Fuck synthetic THC...sorry about that lol, anyways maybe you should just take a break. My whole body has been aching me but I'm so used to it now it still happens but I barley notice it or pay too much attention to it. But the weed has been sorta helping me a bit with bodily pain (or atleast it seems that way).

I agree, synthetic THC right now misses something like 12 of 14 essential components (I don't know the exact number, but around those lines).

Maybe you're having the same deal as me orangeman, that smoking too much pot is starting to have proalgesic (I think that's the word) effects rather than analgesic effects. Try this though: I've found that smoking a whole lot actually isn't better, and it may be a good idea to just have little bits. We all get that feeling after our first bit like "yeah I'm high, but I wanna be higher", but if you're tolerance is up, all smoking more does is increase the "smothered" feeling and maybe increase impairment. Unfortunately I'm at the point now where weed doesn't enhance music, food, anything really, which completely sucks. Maybe cutting the amount taken at one time will lower our tolerance, but I'm not sure if it would with the frequency of use still remaining the same.

anywhoo, good luck to ya. And don't make the mistake of taking painkillers too much. As I learned, overindulgence in ANY analgesic significantly lowers your body's pain tolerance and makes the pain worse overall.
