that depends on alot of things... but mostly the size of the closet... and the reflectivity that you have on the walls.. roughly you want about 3500 lumens per sq foot.. thats a pretty decent goal.. hope this helps..

For spindly plants that won't give you shit... 25-50 watts of CFL(compact fluorescent light)
For decent yield 75-150 watts of HPS(high pressure sodium)

lol hood.. you forgot to mention the decent yeilds with cfl's...prolly around 250 watts of cfl's

I guess it's not really about yield... it's probably more about growing... at least for me... of course, if u want to spend $350 on HPS, another 300 on your MH, $400 on your CO2 system, vaporizer? and etc... u more than welcome to...
CFL is perfect for the beginners. safe and cheap to practise with...

You can get an 250w hps system with a remote ballast for $100 on the internet. I don't think I am allowed to mention where, but the search would be easy. they are very low heat with many lumens and are good for vegging and tremendous for flowering. Plus they cook out moisture to simulate an environment in which the cannabis plant feels more at home. You can also reserve this option for future grows if it isn't yet feasible
