    flowering with mh vs hps

how much less would u yield flowering with a mh rather than a hps? Just wondering because i have a mh but only want to spring for a hps if i have to. If I can get decent results with a mh then I will just use that.

Right, if you have a Metal Halide bulb, you CAN flower with it, but because its the wrong spectrum you wont get as much.

Get a High Pressure Sodium Convertion bulb of the same wattage as your MH.

It'll fit into the fixture, and you dont need separate blallast.

Seriously, HPS is a much better option for flowering.

If you want a good harvest, invest.

I have no idea mate, all strains are differnt, some only geneticly yeild a cuple of grams, while others can yeild more than a pound [16 oz]

It all depends, there no way to be sure.

    Sorry.

Thats alright. growing is about trial and error, so ill just flower with the mh and if the results are undesirable then ill spring for the 400 watt hps. thanks for the help.

No probs mate. Keep us updated. Put it this way, you'll get a yeild, and you'll get something nice to smoke, just HPS will give a higher yeild. It's all about the light spectrums.

Father and law does the whole grow with a MH and gets about a QP per plant. Some old school growers use it threw the whole grow all the time. I got 2 1k MH balasts from a guy that had about a 6K set up and all he used was MH for years, about the last 15 years. I would recommend a HPS, but I am just giving examples of people who still go that rout the whole grow. Give us the results.
    Adieu

When it comes to difference between MH and HPS for flowering, from what I have read/understand at least, It would be worthwhile to get the conversion bulb.

i have used my 1000 watt mh for flower and you lose about 1/4 of the yeild . depending on the strain. i can only say with white widow as i grew both once with 1000 watt mh and many with 1000 watt hps.some poeple use mh when they have hight restrictoins as flowering with mh keeps the plants small and the buds tight and more compact than hps but looses in weight. hps is the correct spectrum for flower and yeilds more
