Want to attempt my first grow inside.....Have a grow area (attic if you want to call it that) that is apprx 5ft tall 24ft long, but the tallest part is down the center and slopes down to nothing.....confused? Its a up one side down the other thing....Kind of unsure what type of strain to use(something thats good but forgiving) Have to 400w hps that plug into a 110 (fluoralux) buddy found them on-line. I worried about sending up red flags power usage wise. Not to familiar with lighting systems and electric, but pluggin them up to 110 wall sockets worries me...load?...The area is ventilated dry and while Id love to produce something like I see on the boards here Im trying to be realistic...Do I have proper lighting....how much of a area should I start with? Any other suggestions welcome......

Well, I've heard 400 watts left on continiously for a month brings your bill up about only 20 dollars, wouldnt know just yet though, based on what people here have told me.
Overload, I have my 400 HPS plugged into a surge protector which leads right into the a wall socket. along with a small fan plugged into the other slot, so you should be fine.
And area, well your hps, with normal bulb, puts out about 45,000 lumens. 2500-3000 lumens per square foot of grow space; simply remember that and you can determine anything about your space. Hope this helped..
Personally I think you could have a really nice crop if you train your strain and keep the light just where it needs to be, without wasting any of it, get some mylar and keep around where your growing.

a 400 hps could cover a 4x4 foot area fine, 6x6 is pushing the limit, i would go with 4x4 and do see of green.
