Mh qnd Hps

I justed ordered me a mh light and just had a quick question about it and also hps lights. I know people say they give off alot of heat but is this from the ballast or the actual light bulb itself. and also how hot do they get. so hot u can't touch it or just slightly hot.

the ballast get hot and the bulb gets even hotter

the ballast isn't that hot. but the bulb you cant touch it and you can feel the heat 15" away

Your best bet is to keep your ballast somewhere besides your grow room.
They can throw plenty of heat.
My basement grow room has a couple holes to the hall beside it and the ballasts live out there.
It also keeps them from getting dirt or moisture in them.
