Another theory why it's illegal is because the government can not tax it if it was legal. Cannabis is a versatile plant. It can be used as a narcotic; medicinal use recreational. Hemp can be used for making clothes, ropes, and weed can even be a different source of fuel!! Although many studies have proved weed as harmless, it won't be legalized anytime soon. The American Governtment is greedy. Imagine this, if it is legalized, everyone would have they're own little weed gardens, and farmers would be growing it left to right. The government would have nowhere to tax it from. Everyone would be free to grow it themselve, hence there wouldn't be a need to go somewher to buy it if you're growing it yourself. I'm pretty sure some stores would sell weed, but what would the point be of buying it legally, when you could be growing it by the pounds and ounces all for the price of some good seeds! Hence there is no revenue for the government to make off the legalization of MJ!
