Growing in closet
Hey guys iam new to growing as is just about everyone. Now i do have a little money to spend but i live with parents and so i have to be careful. i know what your saying " punk kid thinks he can grow in his closet wait till it flowers and buds start to grow". If you can hide a cow you can grow cannabis. well i can hide about a 5 foot cow. If i dont force my plant to flower and leave it in the veg stage then i can keep it alive till spring and flower it ouside away from nosey people. I bought a grow light from wal mart and then i just purchased a compact fluorescent sunlight bulb. puts out 2000 lumens. I can invest in hps or a mh i just want to get the right stuff. Iam only growing one plant and it just broke though last night yesterday was the best day ever. Iam using rain water i collected from a recent thunderstorm and were getting more storms tonight and over the next week. Any advice is much appreciated. i dont have a camera yet but will soon so you can see my plant. some people i know like to watcha plant grow and i do to so i will keep you updated.

good too see more youngns growing.. dont worry none of us here will give you any crap because you live with your parents or whatever.. growing should be enjoyed by everyone not only to people that have the right circumstances to do it without hiding it too much.. just dont get busted by your folks!!.. k im high and im rambling a bit.. investing in a mh or hps would be the a good option for you mate but id try and find one that puts of minimal heat.. because the noise of fans and whatever will atract your parents like god knows what.. also because your a new grower and i suggest this to every new grower try and get a bunch of cfl and flouro tubes along with your additional lights that way you wont have to worry about burning your plants and if you have enough of them you can get away with more than a decent harvest.. also maybe you should try growing at least 2 or more plants considering how much space you have of course.. as you dont want your first and only plant to turn out male that would be a bummer.. do all this and your grow will be going off like a fat bitch in a biscuit tin!! oh yer mate seeing as this is your first post WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!! hope your stay is a good one... good luck with your grow and make sure you get that camera soon. have fun!!!

I wouldn't give a crap if my tenant grew, except that I pay his electric and on top of that I would require him to carry personal liability insurance.
Legally, we have a rental agreement, and he lives in a different unit than I, so I can't lose my house for something he did.
But a kid's grow can jeopardize the parents' insurance policy, at the very least.
So just ask, and if not, stick to outdoors.

how many seeds are you starting out with? if its just 1 that'd be a bad idea cuz that 1 plant could turn out to be male.

Since you're going to be living with your parents, you might want to consider some things first. A compact-indoor grow is in order because you will need the most stealthy grow you can possibly get to avoid parental or legal detection.
As people have suggested, you should invest in fluros/cfls(same thing basically) because their compact and stealthy nature is highly valued amongst growers. You should also find a designated space. This space will most likely be located in your room if you have a vacant closet or any vacant spot that could be used in growing.
If you need any additional help regarding your operation, just feel free to ask away, we are here to answer all your questions buddy =). Also, be sure to give us specs.
Cheers

So i firgured you guys might want some specs. its 25in wide by 45in high. from carpet to the top shelf is 7 ft, i could do shelf growing with clones and germination at bottom. i can widen it by moving my clothes out of the way. any help on making this the most effcient would be awesome. i have a cfl and i can get more. i put a thick piece of cloth over my door in the back so no light gets out.
