my first hydro grow (the bubble bucket)

im experementing with hydro growing now and have built a grow method known as a "bubble bucket" . I was just wondering who else has used this and if it gives good results

    here are the specs

    5 gallon
    brown gravel (cleaned)
42w warm CFL (150 incandecent equvil)
growin by seed (ungerminated on gravel)
air pump and 7" air stone

since i have no hydro shop around i have no hydro nutes
heres the nute mix (it is NOT a good mix, but this is all i have for about 2 weeks)

    -5 gallon water
    -1.5 teaspoons superthrive
-1 teaspoon of 10-52-10 premix (i know its too much P and not enough N)

    heres where the water stands

    PH 6.5
    alkalinity 65 kh/ppm
    hardness 22 gh/ppm
    nitrite 0 mg/l
    nitrate (no3) 35 mg/l

i just want to know if it will get me goin till i can change it in 2 weeks with hydro nutes/ferts

ok...fisrt thing i will sa y is you want to lower your ph to 5.4-5.8

    mine usually sits at 6.7

ther is a local shop around my part of town that is pretty quick on shipping and the prices are not bad either

    www.mdhydro.com

i recomants you pick up some general hysroponics nutes, its by far the most forgiving imho

that light might be ok ok for a few weeks, altho a few more would be better, but once the plant starts getting a little bigger look at getting a bigger/better light. ur plant will thank you

once u sort ur nutes and ph out u shuld be pretty much set.

good luck with the grow and keep us updated

well i got to the hydro shop and picked up "general hydroponics" line of nutes and lowered the ph with alittle lemon juice and it is working very good

    nitrite levels are like 0.01
    ph is like 6.1

    everything looks good,

    ill keep yall posted:thumbsup:

Good effort so far, but that bubbler is going to stimulate so much growth for the plant that is going to really want to grow, but that light will not give enough photo synthesis IMO to give it a fare chance to do what it needs to do and what you are going to want it to. The plant is going to want allot of light to produce the root structure in that bubbler as well as allot of foliage. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but you know environment plays so much. Hope it works in spite of my observations, but someone else can maybe give their opinion.
    Adieu

    well ive changed the lights....

    i now have 2 42watt CFL bulbs (5400 lumens over 1 plant 1sq.ft.)

and yes i know HPS HPS HPS.....

but do to some recent shit in my life i will be putting that on hold for a while

if people can do full scrog grows on floro tubes, then im hoping 84watts of CFL power will work

    thanks for the advice

    and please

Good job! I am gonna start a hydro project soon, but using rubbermaid tubs with the same method. Ur using reg. cured tap, or just tap? I will be watching this thread and hopefully you have amazing results.
