    An Interesting Question

    I've wondered this for years:

Is there a way to fool yourself into thinking something that isn't true is? Like for a lie detector test, is there a way to fool your mind so that if you lie, your body doesn't give off the reaction connected to lying?

If no one knows could someone at least post a link?

Lie detection is all based on increasing heart rate. And I have a prime example of forcing yourself to believe myth. Greek Mythology, Catholcism(any other religion for that matter,THIS IS JUST MY OPINION )

Yes, there definitely is. You just have to have the self control to do so.

    An Interesting Question

Yeah, in psychology we learned that the sub-conscious mind is such a powerful thing. If you tell yourself something that you KNOW is a lie, say you told yourself that you smoked...an entire ounce in an hour.

Now the idea is you have to just keep repeating it to yourself, or wonder about it every couple of days, even. Just keep reiterating to yourself than you smoked an ounce in an hour.

A couple months will go by and you won't even really remember that you told yourself to lie to yourself about that, but inadvertenly you're just gonna go, "Man, I can't believe I smoked an entire OUNCE by myself in an hour." out of the blue.

Usually you'll go, "Oh, wait, no, I didn't." Because you'll remember that you were just lying.

The idea is, you can literally make yourself believe anything you want to if you just keep forcing it down your own head.

And yeah, that's all a lie-detector really is. They measure how fast your pulse is for a period of time and then they ask you the questions and if it's anything above what it has been they consider it a fail. Because when someone lies, their heart does a quick beatbeat instead of beat-beat, if that makes any sense?

    An Interesting Question

As the great George Costanza said "If you believe it, it's not a lie"

    An Interesting Question

I read that some people can even change the chemicals in their brains.
Like in a study by Raine (I think) he scanned murderers brains to see if there was any physiological difference in their brains and non-murderers....and there was in most cases but it also said it was possible to change the chemicals to make it look like you wern't a murderers....

I don't know how this is possible and I might have got the studys mixed up...haha
