You're right that a communist society could not function with the type of mindset the average person in our capitalist culture has. Changing that mindset is one of the principal challenges of the revolution. Nevertheless, the idea that humans are naturally greedy is a myth that happens to flourish because we live in a society that glorifies consumerism and gaining wealth (the so-called "American Dream" which is just that, a dream). People have been culturally indoctrinated into the idea that having more money and more stuff is not only great, but perhaps the main goal in life.
This all needs to change. But cultures change, societies change, ideas change, economies change. Communists are just trying to map out what direction we should be changing in. We want a society where wealth isn't concentrated into the hands of an elite few, where children don't have to grow up starving and homeless because their parents are poor, where workplaces can be controlled democratically instead of in totalitarian top-down hierarchies, and where the idea of a successful life isn't owning the best shit on the block but rather real meaningful activity.Oneironaut Reviewed by Oneironaut on . miniature earth http://www.miniature-earth.com/ love... is a living reality ! my thoughts exactly, communism makes wrong assumptions on the nature of the human mind. hence its failure long long ago, and hence the rebirth of a new system of power that works. (by work, i mean operate, yes it has its flaws but its stable, unlike communism which collapsed, due to the nature of humans)

there's the only link you'll really ever need. and as i pointed out, communism fails to account for human nature. Read that article in its ENTIRETY. start to finish and give it a fair chance. the toughest things to crack are our worldviews because of how close we hold them to our heart, I hate inconvenient truths as well so I don't blame you.

I have my own ideas. Maybe someone has written about these before. I believe in free market capitalism with a cap. Share holders would only be able to say have a maximum of 10% of the shares of a company. This way the wealth is spread more evenly. I believe in the free market because it perpetuates innovation. I'm a technology freak and the rapid increase and betterment of technology makes life easier. A king from the 15th century would look at the way we live and think we are gods. I'm not that well read in the art of politics so rip apart my ideas to help me learn more.

i wont rip apart your ideas but i will say you're pretty politically well grounded in your belief in free market capitalism for someone claiming not to be too politically inclined

I have a habit of reading the first few paragraphs of many subjects then my imagination kicks in and sometimes and I have the illusion of knowing what the whole book is about.

I do a lot of writing. I take an idea that I have read and expand it by paraphrasing and adding my own spin. Ideas can become reality when enough people believe in them. I just look at the idea from many angles and others who read shall then have their own angles to add to the mix. Politics to me is just a passing interest. I prefer psychology and to a lesser extent philosophy. Socrates said "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing." My interpretation of this is that knowledge is infinite and what we know is equivalent to nothing. This to me means that there is always something to learn. I may know "everything" on a subject but in reality I know nothing.
