Well what ever your putting your marijuana in you wanna make sure it's not too hot or it might destroy the THC.

Can I boil too hot?
I once boiled up some plant material for about 2 hours. I'm not sure if anything is destroyed but the butter I made from it that I made pancakes with was very strong. I did use a lot of plant though. Mostly leaves with a few buds.

I hate to tell you but yes you can ruin the butter if you cook it at too high of a temperature. It has to be within a certain range to extract the THC from the bud; get it too hot and it will break down all of the THC, rendering it useless. I'll inform you when I find the temperature ranges so that maybe I can give you something to go on for next time.
