whats up with carbon filters?
so i ordered the carbonaire filter and it came today. now why the hell is it so big and heavy? there's no way i can hang that in my closet! any ideas on how to set it up so that it takes in the hot air from the top of my closet and doesn't just sit on the ground? perhaps it is possible to hang this huge bitch of a filter? i guess what i'm getting at is to hear or see how you guys set up your filters.

its heavy because its full of a special type of coal, simmilar to what you put on BBQ's, but different. lol
mine came with circle clips and mounting brackets., if you dont have any fittings, you could tie some twine or old speaker cables round it, to give you somthing to hang it on.
you shold mount it somthing like this......

thanks babystarbud. thats exactly how i wanted to set it up. But the thing weighs like 50 pounds and i dont really know how to securely hang such weight over my beautiful ladies. I dont think twine could hold this monster. want this thing to fall and crush them. also my cab is only 5 feet tall. (4 x 2.5 x 5 ). i feeling like this task is just about impossible right now.

holy shit, 50 pounds? you could sanitize a pig farm with that bad-boy, never mind a closet grow.
maybe you should have got a smaller filter, they come in different sizes.
if you havent opened the air tight bag it came in you can probably send it back and exchange it for a smaller one and a few other stuff.

Oh the joys of growing. Check out Jamstagaters cab, I think that he has his in the cab, but you will still have to makes some modifications if you are going to pull the hot, danky air threw it and keep the cab cool. This is why the older growers are always critiquing our plans so hard though because it is things like this that the new grower just seems to over look that can change the whole set up.
Good luck and I hope you get it figured out.

No, mine is ON my cab, hidden behind some books and junk. It was too big for me to fit it in the cab. Well, it was probably theoretically possible, but it would have taken up too much space, so it's outside, but sneakily disguised.
Problems like this are what made me give up on the closet idea, and go with the cabinet idea. I have closets I could use, some much bigger than the cabinet, but I couldn't figure out any way to adequately cool a closet without cutting and sawing on walls and doors and stuff, and the woman nixed that idea.
Closets are a bitch. Don't really know what to tell ya, but odds are, you could use everything you have now in a cabinet, and have fewer problems. Otherwise, you're probably going to have to cut some ventilation holes in your walls and/or door. At that point, it's going to be decidedly unstealthy, and pretty much anyone who looks will know what's going on. I'd bail on the closet plan and get a big cabinet, and if that's not enough space, then get two cabinets and stick 'em together (like BlueBear's doing!).
