First grow ever, had a few Q's?

Hey I'm trying to grow 1 plant that is just finshing up its 4th week in the vegetation stage, I give it about 7 hours of sun light like every day then bring it in and have it under 2 40WATT CFL lights for like the rest of the night until the next day I just got the CFL's yesterday I was wondering is that enough light for it I also just bought an extra 30WATT blub I havent hooked up yet even with that would it be enough for indoor light or is more lighting required. I'm kinda on a budget but I want the plant to be successful so I will do whatever I can for it, umm one more thing the stem's of all nodes are begining to have like a maroun almost kind of purple tan on the top of them? if anyone could please aswere these question it would be greatly appreciated, thanks again.

If you're only using the CFL's as a supplement to natural sun for the entire grow, then you will do ok. If cold weather is near and they will be under those lights the whole time, you will probably be dissapointed on the amount you get out of it. The more lights the better. You can make a home made fixture by wiring a bunch of those CFL's together, or you can buy a fixture and just screw the bulbs in. Like I said, the more lights the better.

In my first grow I was able to get close to 250W of CFL's into a plastic bucket I had at home. I painted the inside of the bucket with flat white paint and bought those black light sockets at home depot. I cut out holes on the sides and put the sockets through the holes. Then I wired the sockets together on the outside of the bucket. Finally, I cut a cord and wired it to the fixture. It worked like a charm and I had about 250 Watts for under $50.

Heres some pics of how shes looks so far and the lighting I have, the space is about 2 1/2' wide, 3' tall, and 2' deep

looks good mate.. although in your second pic your side light is faceing upwards i would recomend faceing it to the node growth.. would help growth alot as it looks as if your nodal growth does not get alot of light... also If you want to greatly improve the indoor part of your setup i suggest going and buying some flouros (tubes) and put them above your plant.. that way you can use those 2 cfls for side lighting on either side... fairly cheap improvment and will help your plant alot!!

One other thing LOOSE the FOIL ... use flat white paint, mylar or Astro Foil (same stuff as mylar but much easier to clean) ... and get as many lights in there as u possibly can wothout compromising ur temp and budget ... happy grow

You need to get rid of that foil and get some real reflective material like mylar. Also you need to get another CFL or turn your pot around every day to even out the exposer of light it gets. Also you either need to slow down or increase the ammount of water it gets, that thing is drooping. And doesnt look happy. Get a fan in there and make sure it gets alot of fresh air.

As everyone else has said, you should get some true reflective material in there, or some flat white paint will do. Also, I would lose the reflectors, they seem to be focusing the light too much on certain areas of the plant, causing the undergrowth to not get as much light.

Thanks again everyone for all the helpful info but I have just one more question, I was noticing that a couple roots are wanting to stick out of the drain holes in the pot I have it in, I was wondering do I need to transplant it into something that has no drain holes or will it be ok even if the roots begin to stick out?, oh and I was also wondering what is the benefit that the plant gets from darkness? thanks again
