postmandave Reviewed by postmandave on . Clone question. When you take clones people say give them no nutrients until you get roots. So if i clone into jiffy pellets will it be ok as they already have nutrients in. Thanks for looking :) Rating: 5

    Clone question.

Hey buddy, with the cloning tech that I explained I took cuttings on the 6th and now 7 days later I am getting roots coming threw the Rudors. This is pretty quick considering most take up to 2 wks. the faster rooting styles that I have herd about have taken place in a bubble cloner, but that is even around an 8 day mark, so I am right up there at this point. I don't know if this will always be the case, but it is this time. Fortunately I only officially have lost 1 out of 15, but unfortunately I only hav about 6 female clones since 5 of my 12 big ones that I took the clones from whipped out there private parts on me and the misses, quite shocking.

    Hi BlueBear.

Good to hear your having good success very fast rooting. When i take clones i will let you know how i get on.My plants are 23 days from seed now is this to early to take clones.Am thinking of giving them 3 more weeks just to let them mature a bit more. Here are some pics taken 2 days ago got yellow patches on some of the leaves now.

    Clone question.

I will have to have my wife look at the pics and describe them to me. With the cloning, I cloned at 30 days from the seed and a few were even a week younger, but I would of waited longer, but my cabinet hight would not allow me to. If you can go longer I would wait untill 6 or 8 weeks. Also it can depend if you are going to use the clone for a mother plant that you are going to leave in veg, or if your taking clones to put into flower.

    Clone question.

I was going to just flower the clones but will have to make 2 mother plants from them and put them in bubbler's.Because my plants in the nft system their roots have grown together. Or will i be able to cut roots and move the plants i want to keep for mothers.I want to that it would be easier for me but scared of killing my plants.Let me know your opinion on this please.

    Best Regards.

You can cut roots, but it will cause the plants some shock. In Bonsai techniques they trim or cut the root mass and they do it for mother plants. I will post an article in the indoor growing that talks a little about it. If you cut the roots what kind of system do you want to put them in? Soil IMO is what I would use and many folks who even grow hydro keep their mothers in soil because it is lower maintenance.
If you go and transfer them into soil I would use some rooting powder, I am not talking about cloning powder, but a good transplant powder. I use Macorsi I am not sure of the spelling, pronounced Mu-cor-zy. I sprinkle this on the roots of the plant I am transplanting and in the hole of the area that I am potting in. When I transplant I get no visible shock. Hope that this helps some.
    Adieu
