As a descendant of the settlers of Jamestown in 1607,I have to respond to this! The FIRST settlers came to Virginia to get away from the repressive policies of the papacy that plagued Europe and England. Jamestown was SETTLED not stolen! We didn't start the wars with the Powhatans,they attacked FIRST!Pocahontas (Matoaka) saved the colony and Smith MORE than once,'cause she didn't see us as the enemy and eventually,she was excommunicated from her tribes by her father himself! Sure there were a few bad apples in the colony,and John Smith (who arrived in chains after bein' falsely accused of mutiny) dealt with those people and kept the colony from goin' under until his gunpowder injury 2-3 years after he arrived! It wasn't until AFTER he left that things started to go wrong,but the original colony wanted to live in peace and only wanted a narrow piece of swampland,which ended up bein a bad choice to begin with!

If you believe that the treatment of the modern Indians has been anything but disrespectful then you really need to check your "facts".
I won't defend what we did to them except in cases when WE were attacked by them! As for guys like Custer,he got what he deserved in my opinion!



I believe most people are just trying to get on with their lives with as little fuss as possible , however we all have a duty to speak out if we believe something to be wrong.
I'll agree here. That's what I'M doin'!
