Film worthy things you have done, when randomness becomes genius
ok, so inspiration from this thread come from the "favorite stoner movies thread"
ive personally got more than a few tales of how enlightenment can strike, when very stoned....when you least expect it, resulting in great and funy concequences.
personally i used to love cheech and chong, but i find it kinda childish, and it dosent really compare to good time memories and real life stoner adventures,
here is my first offering, i hope you can all share some random and strange "tales from the green side" lol
anyone seen the movie homegrown?
its got bon jovi, jamie lee curtis and that high commander guy out of 3rd rock from the sun. thats a cool film.
funny story behind this one...could be a stoner movie in itself....
very hard to find though...i saw it by chance on an obscure sattelite channel once, and couldnt get a copy anywhere, the only place i could get it was by ordering an origeonal VHS tape from america, ( i live in the UK ) which was gonna cost me about £60 because it had gone out of production.
anyway, some months later, i was staying miles from home with some old friends, getting stoned, and we went to thier local video rental to get some films to watch, and what did i see on the shelf, in a dark dusty corner at the back of the shop? homegrown!!!!!!!
so i was like oh yeh!!! we took it straight to the counter, and rented it. i also asked if i could buy it, as it was a film i really wanted.
the rental shop was a big chain store called blockbuster, so the guy checks on his computer and says " sorry, its the only copy the company has, so we cant sell it"
i was like, "no way, ill give you £20 for it" ( you know how it is when your on a mission, compleating the msion is all that matters, and by now, i REALLY wanted this film )
hes like "nope, sorry mate, theres nothing i can do"
so, disheartened, we rented the film and went back to the house and smoked a few more joints.
this is going back a few years by the way, when DVD players were not commercial and cost about £900.
so im sat there with my friends getting stoned and having a laugh etc., wondering if i can hook two VCR's together to copy it.
thing is we didnt have the right cables, and my friend only had one VCR, we could get a second one, but that involved driving to somone elses house and persuading them to dismantle thier VCR and lend it to us for the night....and we were just to stoned to take on such a logistic intensive task in our state of mind.
things were looking desperate.
without compleating this mission, i would be on a low vibe for the rest of the night.
and then lightning struck.....in my stoned and drunken state, i realised an un-ethical, but highly effective solution to my problems.
i picked up my friends phone and called the video store.
" hi, i rented a tape from you about a couple of hours ago, and im really sorry but ive just run over it in my car, its totally destroyed. how much do i owe you?!"
" urr, well, (pause) seeing as its an old tape you owe us £5"
"no problem, i said, ill bring the money in tomorrow"
VICTORY!!!!!!!! i offered to pay a lot more than that before.
needless to say, there was much happyness and celebration, and the rest of the night got better as it went on.babystarbud Reviewed by babystarbud on .
