Just to throw in my two cents... I have NEVER seen a soft white bulb that wasn't 2700k. I know for a fact GE's soft white are 2700k, its what I'm using right now. It should say the color temp on the ballast.

I'm not sure about cool whites or warm whites, but I know that day light cfl's color temp varies from company to company.

Either way, making sure you have the correct color temp is a good idea.
