That I can believe. I still firmly believe that the attack was planned and carried out by Al Qaeda. I don't think that there were any bombs in the towers or any of that other nonsense.

That being said, there is no doubt that George W Bush has benefited enormously, certainly more so than Al Qaeda, from the attack. I can't imagine that he'd be in the White House now if it hadn't happened. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that he had some additional prior knowledge of the attack and, not realizing the extent of it, decided to look the other way. "Hmmm, a little terrorist activity is just what I need to get into Iraq"
