    is this true?

well all i know is that males flower sooner than females so im guessin they may well grow faster in veg to
i had 8 males out of ten plants and the ones that were females wernt the biggest or fastest growin they were near the slowest and took nearly two weeks to show, the males showed in a week.
why dont people just get feminised seeds thats what i do now, id rather spend a lil extra and know they all female than spend all that time growin when you risk having to kill maybe most of your crop
i was pissed when i found out i had like two females out of 10 and really didnt want to throw the lil buggers away but they no good so had to
    high everyone!!

I had similar experiences over the years. Males tower over females to shower them with pollen at the right time. If you are growing all the same strain then they should look very similar. I grew Shiva Shati 2 for my first ever hydro and one of the plants turned out to be a dude; there were only 2 in there and one of them had to be chopped. Chopping males early helps preserve the remaining crop. Recently I had to scrap an entire 40 plant crop; I tried pulling the pollen sacks off instead of chopping hoping that they were hermies, the whole crop had to be binned. Where as iff i just took the boys out immediately it mighn't have got so bad. WE live and learn.

I've found that of plants treated identically, males have more vertical growth and females get side growth earlier.. So it looks like the males are growing faster, but they are just going a little more vertical to drop pollen most efficiently on the ladies.
Just my observation in my growing conditions.

Hey redsox: as soon as you can, just take a clone. Then flower the clone ASAP and you will see the sex of you plants.
