    Don't be as paranoid of light as these people have made it out to seem but now you dont want be growing in a clear container...
    Well I should have been, I noticed some weren't looking as good so I open up the res and take a good long look. ALGE!!!...a fair amount of it. At least that's what I'm assuming, slimy stuff covering the roots, air stones, and sidewalls. So res changed just now....I switched over to fox farm also. I hope that doesn't traumitize them. Res is completely light tight now and I will have to be more diligent about res temps....time for daily ice.

    Damn well sometimes the hard way is the best way to learn.

    Should I cut off the snot covered part or the roots? Its only in the water above they look ok. White in color its just roots in the water.

    Morbid curiosity here...what colour is the algea?

    As for trimming the roots? *shrug* I'm not sure. Seems like they should have enough root to support them until they can grow back, but I wouldn't take my word on that if I were you.
    Nature\'s first green is gold,
    Her hardest hue to hold.
    The early leaf\'s a flower;
    But only so an hour.
    Then leaf subsides to leaf.
    So Eden sank to grief,
    So dawn goes down to day.
    Nothing gold can stay.

    Its looks like white snot...I left the roots alone. I also decided until I can get a better handle on the temps the fogger will be put aside for now. The plants look ok though....im always thinking they should be growing much faster though. So anyone else on cutting the slime off? I mean how much good stuff can they take up with all that crap on them? Im going to try some algae remover from the pet store first....

    Might be careful how long you add that H2O2 for because it also kills off helpful bacteria/ allege that should be there...

    All I know is the algae is sucking up O2 and chocking my roots. As far as the H2O2 its making them look better....probably from the O2 they need. I have lots of bubbles but my temp is like 78 in the res. So if I leave it be the roots are goners I'm guessing.

    Well today I did some sniping at the roots and changed my res AGAIN!!. I took off the heaviest covered parts of the roots and switched them to chemical nutes with H2O2. It seems the tides are turning in the great algae battle....soon it will be gone. I hope the root snip isn't going to hurt them too bad, It seems like they have enough left to do fine.
