Lighting question
I'm running a 400 + 600 hps in my growroom fine on an extension cord then a contactor.
I'm thinking of adding anothger 600 into the equation but fear it will be too much power from a single socket
I cud use teh socket next to wall + have a seperate power supply for the extra 600.
How much extra bud will I get with the extra 600 is 1 k of light enuff to get a decent yeild or do I need moreHenry56 Reviewed by Henry56 on . Lighting question
depends on the area, with the three lights your suggesting,
they are reasonably powerful lights, so you should be looking to increase grow area ( ground space ) rather than cramming more plants in a small space.
more plants over a bigger area with more light will obviously yield more, and if your looking at that, it would make more sence to add two more lights, given that most rooms are square or rectangular, for equal light distribution.
unless your planning to grow your plants in a triangular configuration?!
you also might have to upgrade whatever ventilation/temp control you have.
im no electritian, but running three lights like that from a single standard household socket is asking for trouble, each should have its own supply, or a single supply that you know for a fact can handle it. older houses have thiner wires and your insurance company will just laugh at you whan you burn your house down, especially when your trying to claim from behind bars for growing weed.
sorry to be a sceptic, but you should really reaserch your house electric supply, and figure out if it can cope with what your wanting.

Lighting question
Henry...
Hi... : ) ... Personaly I don't like to run more than 1000 watts on a 15 amp fuse and 2000 watts on a 20 amp fuse..
If you have the extra fuse/breaker and you can afford the extra light, you should really consider using it.. especially if you have mastered the basics of growing..
an extra 600 watts with proper ventilation should increase your harvest between 10-20 ounces at least.. depending also on your strain..

Lighting question
You get your amps from Watts/Volts....you can run up to 15 amps on most house circuits (120v) so thats 1800 watts. Your ok...most irons run like 1300 watts or so. That setup of lamps will put you at 13.3 amps...maybe a little more when you first start them up. You do risk blowing a fuse starting all the lamps at once, either start them apart or use a different circuit for a 600.
Im in full compliance with my state laws and am a medical marijuana patient.
