Just wondering if there are an Stephen Gaskin-type teachers out there. Recently decided that college wasn't for me. At least not the institutionalized ones we all know of. Just looking for something deeper.

Stay in college. Looking for something deeper is just a road to frustration. You won't find what you're looking for through another person-only within yourself.

Life teaches you what is essential.

Maybe High School can be like that. Mine was...hiring coaches instead of teachers so we could win football games.
But at the University level it's all about education. They may not nurture the soul like you want them to, but if you want to be an architect, botanist, economist, etc....you need a formal education. Think about it, you wouldn't even be able to respond to this post if you didn't have some level of education. You're not going to pick up Trig. or Calculus on the streets. Yeah, if you want to live 'hand to mouth' at just the survival level Life might teach you that. It will do it by trying to kill you off and seeing if you're strong and wise enough to survive. If you want a better life for yourself though, get your ass in school and get a real education.

I do not disagree with educating yourself to be capable in the field you choose to work in.
But, the educational system does much more than that, starting in kindergarden.
We are taught to ignore our inner voices, to conform.
And people who do not go to university do not necessarily have to struggle and fight on the streets for survival.
I didnt go to university.
I finished highschool at 15, wrote my entrance exams for college, passes with ease yet chose not to go that route.
I have had a few successful businesses and the freedom to walk my path wherever it may lead me. I have been fulfilled, enriched by my experiences and found happiness in my life. I have made peace with my soul and live as one with others and our mother earth. I devote much of my life to helping others achieve the same state in their own lives.
I did not need to participate in post secondary educational institutions to achieve this. In fact I personally believe that had i gone down that fork in my path I would not be the man I am today, nor would I be truly happy and content. I chase nothing but personal evolution. It is possible to get what he seeks where he chooses to seek it. Just as you found what you sought where you sought it ( I assume ).
peace.
