don't go by the back of the bottle, use 1 tablespoon per gallon, for your plant. Spray her once a day until the yellowing improves. Trust me, I do it all the time but beware it stinks to high Heaven! Sounds like a great planting medium to me and that you found the 'root' (no pun indeeded) of your problem!
