They can search your car when an arrest is made, or if they can smell or see or hear something illegal. You got to watch out what you say to the popos, the best thing is say nothing, if they ask for you lic., reg. and prof of ins. give it to him and dont say a word. Get your ticket and if they ask to search say no. They got about 15 minutes to detain you to get a drug dog there. And they dont have to tell you that your free to go. The courts have ruled that 15 minutes is long enough to detain a motorist. Wait the 15 then leave.
