There are more rules, in more sects of Christianity than you could ever count. There's really nothing noteworthy in the scriptures because it wasn't really an issue back then. Yeah, it was around, it just wasn't something worth fussing over.

Now days, it is. Most sects, for political correctness sake, public image, formalities, and community position, are gonna say it's a no-no. So you're gonna have to define 'the Bible and Christianity' for yourself and decide what it all means to you, then make your own judgement. If you don't want to do that there are always plenty of volunteers to do it for you.

No. I've read the Bible and there really isn't anything in there along the lines of "Thou shalt not smoke the sticky icky". The only recreational drug mentioned in the Bible is alcohol, and while it warns against overindulgence in drinking in some verses, it doesn't seem to have a problem with moderation. There are even stories in the Bible where people whom God considers extremely moral and righteous get totally plastered.

For example, in Genesis, after the flood Noah immediately starts growing grapes so he can make wine, then he gets totally plastered and passes out naked in his tent, where his son Ham sees his ding-dong and then Ham's son is punished for it for some reason.

Also, there's the story where Lot and his family is spared by God from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot's wife is killed in the whole ordeal, but his bloodline is able to continue because he gets really smashed and fucks his own daughters, impregnating them.

But it is true that most Christian denominations and probably most individual Christians are opposed to drugs. This is, I think, because the more religious one is the more conservative/reactionary ones political beliefs tend to be. Nearly all right-wingers (especially those on the far right) are religious and in favor of the War on Drugs, and the more progressive you get on the political spectrum, the less religious people tend to be, until you get to the radical revolutionary left which consists almost entirely of atheists who are vehemently opposed to the War on Drugs.

Nope, all the bible says about alcohol is to not go out and get drunk all the time. But it is ok occasionally. God turned the water into wine.

As far as the herb goes God told moses to make an oil that contained and and to pour it on peoples heads. People have found resin in Jewish candle holders. Not to mention rastafarianism is based of off Christianity!

That is, if you accept the questionable idea that the Hebrew phrase "kaneh bosm" is the origin of our word "cannabis". Speaking as someone with a lot of background in historical linguistics, there really isn't any credible evidence that that etymology is correct, except for the fact that they sound kind of similar, but that is no evidence at all: the German word "haben" and the Latin word "habere" (both meaning "to have") are completely unrelated, even though both languages derived from the same proto-language.

 The magic trick that Jesus supposedly performed at a wedding party, of turning water into wine, was indicative of the Judeo-Christian love of drunkenness and stupidity.

Even though Islam forbids alcohol, that religion is even worse.

Had there never been a magic mushroom shortage, with the subsequent introduction/substitution of alcohol as a "sacrament", the world would be a far different place!

P.S. I've never even had the mushrooms, but I think that LSD and mescaline (both of which I have had) are probably close enough to speak of them in context.

There's more to it then that. There's a verse where God gets angry because the people didn't bring kaneh to his temple and in response he fills the tents with smoke! Also they have found cannabis resin in the candholders in Jewish Church's. There are many other doctrine outside of the bible mostly within orthodox point of views where God is thought to have taught us the mystery of the seven trees, cannabis being one of them...:smokin: :rasta:
