When to flower and sex the plants?

So when should i start looking for signs of male or female and whats the easist sure fire way to tell? Is it a good idea to clone the first batch of plants and force them to flower early to determine the sex of the main batch? If so how long to grow the clones before I change light cycles? Any info ya'll could offer would help tremendously....

Anytime you force a plant to do anything you stress it and the more you stress the likely you'll get hermies. Just let them veg say 3 weeks and drop into 18/6 and see if they show sex and than at a month I drop them into 12/12 if they like it or not. As soon as they show sex transplant them into your bigger pot or toss what you don't want.

You can cut a clone from a low branch and root that clone.

Then flower the rooted clone to sex the plant it was taken from. That way you can keep your vegging plant growing and know the sex and not stress it.
