bugs!
Just found some small, ant sized bugs in my hydro set up. Plants are in day 35 of flowering, starting to get some frosty looks to the leaves and buds. :e These bugs are black, about the size of ants but very quick moving little bastards. I only saw 2 (probably 10 million hiding elsewhere) but what are they and what is the best thing to do about them? I see no damage to the plants themselves (yet!) and would take a pic but they are way too fast. Help!

Possibly fungus gnats, common in hydro. But I thought those things were a little smaller than ants. Of course ants can be lots of sizes...
Are they on the roots too?

This was a fairly big thing, quicker than sin--did not fly but ran up and down the stem. At one point it stopped and flipped me off I think so big enough....what do you do about them? Probably the size of a normal black ant.....

No friggin clue.
I hate bugs.
Shit, I seem to remember [fuzzily] some systemic neem concoction-"Doc's" I think- that you can add to the res. But no systemics in flower, period, so that's out. And sprays aren't recommended that late either.
So my advice is post a bunch of yellow sticky traps around to get you through to harvest, and then when you take everything down, really scrub out your system. Unless you're on a perpetual schedule, then I'd just go for the sticky traps until you get the buggies id'd.
Trap a few on sticky traps and post pics for us!

If your running a hydro setup it is possible that you have gnats; however, without a further discription of your problem it's hard to asertaine. Here is how you eliminate them.
Organic Solution:
Get three bulbs of garlic, mince them in a processor and then boil the minced garlic until the water becomes slightly green, then strain out the garlic particulates. Dowse your crop thouroughly for two days, wait a week then reapply, that should handle any type of problem organically.
If you are still having issues, I recomend using a product called SM-90 to get rid of bugs, the directions are simple to follow and can be found at any lawn/garden store.
REMEMBER TO ADD IT TO YOUR RESIVIOR AND MAKE A FOLIAR APPLICATION ALSO.
If that fails to cure the problem, get some Zap it (yellow cardboard things that kill all insects)
good luck.

bugs!
I will get some sticky traps and see if I can outsmart a few of the buggars. As for the garlic--if I spray on the buds will it affect the taste or smoke? I heard anything wetting on the buds themselves can lead to bud rot. How do I prevent this?
I'm afraid the ladybugs are out because the setup is in the corner of a spare bedroom and I dont want ANY MORE PETS!! Then you have to think up names, get them vaccines and spay them etc...Haze(y) Grow Log:
